(London, KY) On Friday April 10, 2026 the North Laurel Lady Jaguars make history by defeating the Montgomery County Lady Indians in the Mary Weddles Hines Classic by the score of 15-5.

Since North Laurel High School opened in 1993 the Lady Jaguars have been very successful with

    • 8 Championships in the 12th Region
    • 12 Championships in the 13th Region

  • 23 District Championship

In 2000 the Lady Jaguars makes a run for a State Championship when they won their opening round game by defeating Whitesburg 11-1. In the second round they defeated Allen County-Scottsville by the score of 2-1. In the quarterfinals they defeated Simo Kenton by the score of 3-0. In the semi-finals they defeated DuPont Manual 1-0. Onto the Championship game where they meet a common opponent in DuPont Manual.  North Laurel lost in the first game 1-0. That all set up a winner take all game, the Lady Jaguars lost 1-0.

But in 2001 the North Laurel Lady Jaguars couldn't get the taste of the loss in the state championship game. They wanted to bring home that state Championship back to London. In the first game of the 2001 Fast Pitch State Tournament, they defeated Greenwood by the score of 3-2, in the second game they defeated Lone Oak by the score of 5-1 then they defeated DuPont Manual by the score of 2-1, then in the semi-finals they defeated Owensboro Catholic by the score of 4-0. In the championship match which they only need one win to bring home a State Championship. That's all that they would need they defeated Owensboro Catholic 2-1 to win the Fast Pitch Softball State Championship. That year they would finish with a 39-7 record on the year.

A big accomplishment for any Softball program especially in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky bringing home a Ms. Softball in 2002 by Becky Abner.
